Your Weekend Update from Mr. Humphrey

Guys, this weekend's email from Mr. Humphrey is FULL of info!

Please read it fully:

Good morning incredible Idlewild Eagles,

We hope this message finds you enjoying a restful weekend. Please don't forget to join our PTO!  We had a great meeting this past Thursday, and we will be sending more information about how you can become involved as we begin to plan more virtual community events! This is a long email, so please take your time and read through everything.

Please follow us and the Idlewild PTO on Facebook for more frequent updates and information:

School Reentry Selections 2021

As we continue to prepare for a safe return to in-person learning, we again want to emphasize that parents are able to choose a learning option for the remainder of the year that they feel best meets the needs of their student and family.

Many parents selected a student learning option as part of our registration process this summer. Those choices for either in-person or virtual learning will still be valid when schools reopen; however, we want to ensure that anyone who did not complete the survey or would like to change their original selection has an opportunity to do so. *If you do not wish to change your original learning option selection, please DO NOT submit a choice again. Your choice is on record, and no further action is needed.

Parents can submit a student learning option in PowerSchool Wednesday, October 21 through Friday, October 30. Please note, any students who does not have a learning option selected by October 30 will be automatically enrolled in the in-person option for the remainder of the school year.

Pandemic - EBT Updates

We have not received the cards at Idlewild at this time.  When the cards arrive we will contact all parents on our list to provide instructions on when to pick them up from Idlewild.

What is P-EBT?

  • Pandemic Electronic Benefit Transfer cards mirror original EBT cards which purchase food for low-income families.

  • P-EBT cards are in direct relation to the pandemic and food lost for children during school closures.

Who Qualifies?

  • P-EBT cards are still available for SCS families who missed the deadline to apply.

Families are qualified if they meet these three conditions:

  • Their student attended school last spring.

  • They received free or reduced meals.

  • They received meals through the National School Lunch Program

How does it work?

  • The card provides each student $5.70 for each qualifying day that meals were missed when schools shuttered in March, April and May.

  • The cards can be used in grocery stores, and other retail stores that accept EBT cards.

How do I get my card?

  • Qualifying parents may pick up their card at the school their child(ren) attended last Spring. You must bring your I.D. to receive the cards.

  • If the cards are not picked up in 30 days (by November 13), schools have been instructed to return them to the Tennessee Department of Human Services for disposal.

  • If you’re not sure if you qualify, contact your child’s school.
